RBS signs deal to sponsor City AM’s Six Nations coverage
The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is to sponsor City AM’s Six Nations rugby content.
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed but a spokeswoman for City AM says it is hoped the relationship will continue in future years. The sponsorship will begin with a tailored 20-page supplement launched this week, the day before the start of the tournament.
The supplement will offer comprehensive coverage of the tournament, including profiles of players, along with team and venue reviews.
As part of the deal, RBS will also own the rugby coverage within the newspaper in and around all the games.
London’s daily business freesheet says the supplement is in line with its “Business and personality” positioning.
It says the deal will also reinforce the bank’s message of ownership and leadership.
Jeremy Slattery, sales director at City AM, says: “To have the Royal Bank of Scotland on board for the second year in a row demonstrates the success of last year’s sponsorship activity.”
MediaCom director James Marples, who worked on the sponsorship deal, says: “The senior business and City audience is a key one for RBS and our choice of supporting the City AM Six Nations coverage for the second year running directly reflects this.”
