Tunisia picks Fox to handle tourism brief

The Tunisian National Tourist Office has appointed Fox Kalomaski to handle its 1m UK integrated marketing account.

The Tunisian National Tourist Office has appointed Fox Kalomaski to handle its £1m UK integrated marketing account.

Fox won the three-year contract after a head-on pitch against incumbent Dynamo, which had held the account for more than ten years.

The review was handled by the tourist office’s HQ.

Sources reveal that the original, four-way pitch also included Attention Marketing.

The tourist office’s £8m pan-European business, handled by Dynamo, was not affected by the review.

Fox Kalomaski managing partner Gary Jacobs says it is too early to reveal details of the campaign, but suggests it will be centred on "developing a strategy for Tunisia which puts it on the map".

It is understood that Dynamo did not receive feedback from the tourist office on its pitch. Dynamo managing director Roger Marriott admits it was disappointing to lose the account, but says the agency would consider repitching.

Tunisia is promoted as a spa resort, and a number of films, including Star Wars and the English Patient, have been filmed in the country.
