Minnec departure leaves Jones in control at DraftFCB London

DraftFCB London co-president John Minnec is returning to the US, leaving Nigel Jones as sole president of the UK agency – as first tipped by Marketing Week last year.

Minnec will leave the UK later this month after spending two years at Draft, and later the combined entity, following its merger with the FCB network.

In 2004, Minnec was recruited by Howard Draft, then the chairman and chief executive of Draft, who now holds the same titles at DraftFCB, to head the UK office of the direct marketing agency. However, Minnec says that he had always planned to stay for two years, and is returning to the US to spend more time with his family.

Marketing Week reported in June last year that Jones, co-founder of Claydon Heeley Jones Mason (now Claydon Heeley), would head the UK agency, with Minnec tipped to return to Chicago (MW June 15, 2006).

In September, following the merger, both Jones and Minnec were named as co-presidents. Minnec was previously managing director of Draft London and Jones was chief executive of FCB London.

Minnec took responsibility for client servicing, personnel, new business and marketing, while Jones headed agency strategy, operations, output and finance.
