BBC drops long-term partner PHD

Media agency PHD has parted company with the BBC after failing to make the shortlist on its £20m media planning and buying account. The agency has handled the business for more than 10 years.

MPG, ZenithOptimedia and Mediaedge:CIA have made the shortlist. Carat was also cut from the list following chemistry meetings.

The winning agency will be announced on March 31 and will be required to work across the BBC’s public service portfolio.

It will work with the BBC’s marketing department to plan and buy media space for specific marketing campaigns, as well as providing insight and analysis.

The corporation is required to carry out a statutory review of its marketing services agencies every five years.

Last year it appointed Fallon and Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R to handle advertising.
