PSA Peugeot Citroën has handed responsibility for marketing its two marques to Isabelle Marey-Semper as part of a management restructure. She joins the car company from consumer electronics company Thomson Group. The realignment, which includes the extension of the group’s managing board and the creation of a new executive committee, also sees Gilles Michel promoted to head the Citroën brand. The management revamp follows the appointment of Christian Streiff as chairman last week. Marey-Semper, who was a member of Thomson’s technology division executive committee, takes the title of vice-president of strategy and innovation at PSA.

She is one of five members of a new executive committee that will report to Streiff and has overall responsibility for marketing. PSA’s profits plunged 82% to €176m (£116m) last year amid declining sales in Europe and a restructuring that saw the closure of Peugeot’s only UK plant.

Former Airbus executive Streiff, who takes over from Jean-Martin Folz as chairman, says: “This new streamlined organisation will ensure that the necessary decisions are taken without delay to swiftly restore our group to profitable growth.”

Streiff has extended the managing board to five with Gregoire Olivier, one of France’s highly regarded new generation of managers, joining as head of programmes.

Michel also joins the board as executive vice-president of the Citroën marque, having previously been vice-president for platforms, technical affairs and purchasing. Michel replaces Claude Satinet, who has retired. Frederic Saint Geours has been reappointed to head the Peugeot brand for a further four years.
