Carphone Warehouse and Virgin in digital venture

Virgin Digital and The Carphone Warehouse are launching a new music download service, The deal means Virgin Digital will become the mobile phone retailer’s exclusive music download partner in the UK, powering its music website

The site will offer users a library of 2.5 million tracks that can be downloaded for 79p by “dragging and dropping” the track into a shopping basket at the bottom of the screen.

As well as the music store, also features music insurance, which replaces customers’ entire downloaded music library if their computer or MP3 player is damaged or stolen. Other features include a music news service, featured playlists and comprehensive background information on artists and songs.
