Peter Stringham (pictured) is standing down as the UK chapter president of the International Advertising Association (IAA) after just eight months following his departure from HSBC’s top global marketing post.

Stringham, who left the high street bank earlier this year, has stood down from the IAA role following his appointment as chief executive of Young and Rubicam Brands in New York. IAA UK chapter vice-president Michael Toedman is taking over as president immediately.

Stringham, then HSBC Group general manager marketing, succeeded Adrian Vickers in June last year. At the same time, Toedman, BusinessWeek VP international managing director, was appointed vice-president.

Toedman handles the sales and development for BusinessWeek outside the US, which include the expansion of the BusinessWeek.com’s marketing, traffic and sales in Europe and Asia. He joined BusinessWeek in 1998 as regional advertising director based in Hong Kong, before moving to London in 2001 to become international business development director.

The IAA has more than 4000 members across 56 chapters in 95 countries.
