Eurostar has appointed Fallon to handle its £10m advertising business following a pitch against Glue and Beattie McGuinness Bungay.

The pitch was called late last year ahead of the launch of high-speed train services from London’s St Pancras station. Incumbent TBWA/London, which had handled the account since November 2000, was knocked out at an earlier stage and Lowe pulled out of the pitch.

Eurostar marketing director Greg Nugent, who oversaw the pitch, says the pitch was about "the future of this business" rather than just the advertising.

Late last year the train operator appointed start-up agency Hurrell and Dawson to promote St Pancras station as the new home of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, following a competitive pitch.

London & Continental Stations & Property, the company behind the £800m restoration of St Pancras, has commissioned the agency to create a campaign that will launch on 14 November – the date Eurostar moves from Waterloo to St Pancras. The advertising will position St Pancras International as "Europe’s finest station", under the banner "Europe’s Destination Station."
