Police launch nationwide counter-terrorism campaign

Police forces across the UK are rolling out a new counter-terrorism awareness campaign created by Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy (MCBD).

The campaign was commissioned by the Metropolitan Police and will be adapted for regional forces. Ads will encourage people to look out for activity that could be linked to planning terrorism and to forward that information to a confidential anti-terrorism hotline.

Ben Armistead, account manager, says: “Previous campaigns have concentrated on key elements of counter-terrorism, this latest one is looking at the planning stage [of an attack].”

The campaign breaks today (Thursday) and is being rolled out across the UK’s main urban centres including London, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and West Midlands. There will be ads in key London and regional press, and a radio push.

Media buying has been handled by MediaCom. This is the third anti-terrorism campaign MCBD have created for the Met Police since 2005.
