Top Woolworths marketer quits after three years

Woolworths marketing director Stephen Robertson is leaving the retailer at the end of the month after three years in the role. It is not thought that he has a job to go to.

The high street retailer is not planning to replace Robertson and his responsibilities have been handed to Woolworths’ head of brand communications, Tony Holdway.

Robertson, a former B&Q marketing director, was appointed to the retailer with a brief to revamp the marketing department, reinvigorate communications, drive multi-channel capability and re-invent its store formats strategy. He also appointed Bartle Bogle Hegarty to handle its £25m advertising account, which had been handled by Bates UK for 17 years.
