Gavin is top radio ad ‘actor’

Recently the Diary revealed that the composer of Honda’s Choir ad was invited to compose a piece for the Oscars ceremony (MW February 22). Well, now another ad man has received his spoils.

Last week listeners of Dominik Diamond’s XFM Scotland breakfast show were given the chance to vote for their favourite radio ad actor. And Gavin from Autoglass won, beating James Nesbitt and Dawn French.

Gavin is like the Howard from Halifax of windscreen repairs – a normal technician from Autoglass in Birmingham. He features in a campaign created by Radioville, promoting Autoglass’ free repair service for chipped windscreens. The campaign has been a great success for the company, the agency and, apparently, Gavin’s luck with the ladies.
