Julie Leyland has joined Marketing Week, owned by Centaur Media, as its group publisher.

She will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the media brand, including its online service, and will report to publishing director Annie Swift.

Leyland has over 20 years’ experience across media and marketing trade titles. She left Haymarket Business Publishing in March 2005. At that time she was publishing director Marketing magazine and PrintWeek. Previously, she launched PRWeek USA, a weekly national title competing in the $10bn (£5.09bn) US PR and communications industry.

Annie Swift, publishing director, says: "She comes with an excellent publishing pedigree in the marketing sector. Her knowledge and skills will be invaluable".

Leyland began her career, at Haymarket in 1986-87 as a sales executive at Autocar.

Her appointment comes six months after Marketing Week launched an online news and jobs service as part of a major revamp the marketingweek.co.uk site last September. The website is refreshed daily for breaking news stories and also has e-mail alerts and a weekly newsletter, called Noises Off.
