MyTravel in online TV move

MyTravel is launching of a series of Web television channels in partnership with online consultancy Webtrom TV in a bid to boost online sales across its core travel brands.

The UK-based travel company, which last month announced a merger with Thomas Cook to create Europe’s second largest travel group, plans to introduce seven on-demand online TV channels. The services will be rolled out via the homepage of each brand including MyTravel, Going Places, Direct Holidays, Panorama, Holidays, Cresta Holidays, Tradewinds and Airtours.

The channels will showcase 60 resorts across short and long-haul destinations. MyTravel already has more than 150 accommodation videos available.

MyTravel director of digital marketing, Russell Gould, says: “Video is very effective in driving online sales. It gives us another tool to present to the consumer to make them more comfortable about the decision they’re trying to make when they’re choosing their holiday.”
