Disney and MySpace join to promote TV series

The Walt Disney Company has teamed up with MySpace to support the release of its teen series Prom queen.

The deal marks the first initiative of strategy that will see Disney promote products and content on the social networking site. The tie-up is among MySpace’s first forays into displaying content with media owners’ backing in a move that sees take on YouTube further.

Myspace air exclusive content for Prom Queen. The series will feature 80 episodes 90 seconds long on the MySpace Video channel and the MySpace will feature series content that including character profiles, behind the scenes video footage, character diaries and storyline secrets.

The deal is seen my many as a shot in the arm for MySapce Video as it attempts to gain ground on rival YouTube.
