Global Cool appoints Sponge

Global Cool, the climate change charity, has appointed mobile marketing agency Sponge to drive its fundraising campaign. The charity will now roll out a series of celebrity video clips to encourage people to cut their carbon emissions.

Consumers will receive two video clips each month staring celebrities such as Sienna Miller and Leonardo DiCaprio giving advice on how people can help. The £3 monthly fee will be donated to the Global Cool Foundation, which invests in activities and initiatives that help to tackle climate change.

Sponge has also created a WAP site to allow people to choose GiftAid, which means the charity will receive 28p for every £1 that is raised.

Richard Kilgarriff, chief operating officer at Global Cool, says: “Mobile phone communications are an essential part of our campaign to reach 1bn people worldwide.”

The charity hopes to reduce carbon emissions by one tonne by encouraging 1bn people to make simple energy reductions.
