Motorola moves head of Vodafone account to UK general manager

Motorola has promoted Jim Michel to UK general manager of its mobile phone division as part of a management restructure. Michel will have overall responsibility for the Motorola brand in the UK and head of marketing James King will report directly to him.

Michel was previously in charge of Motorola’s Vodafone account but has seen his remit expanded. It is thought the general manager role at Motorola UK is new.

Michel’s promotion is the latest in a series of management changes at Motorola. The handset manufacturer’s European marketing director Simon Thompson left last month to join Lastminute.com as chief marketing officer after just a year in the role.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Dale has just been promoted to global vice-president of marketing for mobile devices (MW March 28). Dale, who was previously vice-president for retail and channel marketing, replaced Leslie Dance, who left the company.
