Virgin Trains offers free travel to frequent domestic flyers

Virgin Trains is going head-to-head with airlines in a bid to get people off planes and onto trains for domestic UK travel. The company is offering free first class travel to people who usually fly between London and the North and Scotland.

The Plane Relief Plus 2007 campaign, which has been created by Exposure, allows people who fly between London and Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow, to swap their used boarding passes for a free Virgin Trains first class ticket.

Virgin Trains will distribute 135,000 Plane Relief Plus pillboxes from “green pharmacies” at train stations and shopping centres across the UK over a two-week period.

Passengers will receive a code in return for their boarding pass, which enables them to book their next UK train journey online at www.planerelief.com.
