Online video serial for Bebo users to launch

Bebo.com has signed a deal with the team behind Lonelygirl15 (left), the online video serial launched last summer, to launch a spin-off show, KateModern, about a teenage university student based in London.

Lonelygirl15 presents… KateModern will launch in July on Bebo and will have several episodes a week. It will offer Bebo users in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand will have first access to new installments, which will later be released on LG15.com and other websites. Advertisers will be able to get involved with the new show by integrating their brands into the show’s plot.

Lonelygirl15 was launched as a “real” online video blog, which featured a 16-year-old girl talking about her life and teenage issues, on YouTube. It was outed as a fake last September but continues to air as a serial about Lonelygirl15, now known as Bree, and has a myserious plot about her family’s involvement in a religious cult. It encourages involvement and interaction with viewers.

KateModern will expand on the Lonelygirl storyline and will show her trying balance her social life with “dark forces”. The plot will incorporate puzzles and mystery that will be carried over into “real life” to allow viewers to participate in the storyline.
