British Gas has appointed OgilvyOne to handle its £35m direct marketing account following a five-month review. The business was previously split between WWAV Rapp Collins and EHS Brann.

OgilvyOne beat Rapier in a final pitch to win the account. Hall Moore CHI, Tequila/London, Archibald Ingall Stretton and the two incumbents were eliminated at an earlier stage.

British Gas called the review in November last year, putting WWAV Rapp Collins and EHS Brann on six-month notice periods. The two agencies have shared the account for 12 years.

The review was initially handled by the AAR but it is thought that British Gas brand manager Chris Brocklehurt handled the later stages.

Clemmow Hornby Inge handles British Gas’s above-the-line advertising account, while Carat is the brand’s media planning and buying agency.
