Airey quits new role after eight days

Former BSkyB managing director of channels and services Dawn Airey is understood to have left her job as chief executive of media start-up iostar after just eight days.

Airey left the satellite operator earlier this year to take up the chief executive post of the production and distribution firm.

She joined Sky in January 2003 as Sky Networks managing director, with responsibility for all of Sky’s non-sports programming and advertising sales. She became managing director of channels and services in February 2006. Previously, she was chief executive of Channel 5, now Five.

Her departure from Sky led the satellite broadcaster to expand the roles of Mike Darcey, chief operating officer, and Sky Sports managing director Vic Wakeling, whose remit increased to also include Sky News.

Iostar, the media company set up by former Hallmark executive Mark Grenside, showcased its first productions at the MiPTV festival in Cannes earlier this month.
