Jaeger reveals ambitious expansion plans

Jaeger, the iconic British fashion brand, is launching in the USA and Australia as part of ambitious expansion plans to double its overseas portfolio over the next 12 to 18 months.

The chain is hoping to break into eight new markets, including the US and Eastern Europe, to develop its retail, franchise and wholesale business and to expand its international stores from 40 to 80 units. The UK market currently accounts for 85% of Jaeger’s global sales.

Jaeger has also poached Adrian McAllister from Burberry to the new post of head of international development.

The luxury fashion brand, which houses the Jaeger, Jaeger London and Jaeger Black labels, has 130 UK and European stores. The womenswear, menswear and accessories brand was established in 1884 but fashion entrepreneur Harold Tillman acquired it in 2003.

He appointed former Debenhams chief executive Belinda Earl as group chief executive in September 2004 and the pair have been working to revitalise the brand with new collections and a campaign starring supermodel Erin O’Connor.
