A day in the life of Lisa Feege

“My worst day at work was finding out that I had sciatica at the end of January and being told I had to be off work for 6 weeks just 3 months before launch! Thank goodness for my Blackberry!”

Name: Lisa Feege

Company: UCAS Media

Job title: Special Projects Manager

What keeps you busy all day?

Every day is frantic but fun. What’s so exciting about this project is working with some great brands, agencies and a highly motivated team. Each day I brief our digital agency, True Digital, about developments on the site. I also speak to our viral PR company (Six PR), and marketing agencies about all the various activity we have planned. We have a number of content partners on the site including Lonely Planet and iTunes so I talk to them about their ideas for the site and exclusive offers they can provide. I meet to discuss strategy and advertising with the commercial account manager and run through the content plan with the website editor.

What keeps you awake at night?

The anticipation of what will happen when the site goes live!

Describe your working day:

I generally start work at 8.30 am having dropped my son off at nursery. I check and respond to e-mails and chat to the team about what needs to be done that day. I meet with either our viral, PR or marketing agency to chat either about our trolley racer viral campaign, our student ambassadors (the yougo yodas!) or the production of posters for schools, on campus and in our fashion partner’s Cult store. We are lucky to have so many great brands as content partners in the site. There is always lots of discussion and banter throughout the day with my team.

What’s your busiest time of day?

Usually the end of the day when I’m dashing off to pick up my son and wishing that there were more hours to develop ideas for yougo. The potential for the site is huge and the ideas seem to be limitless!

What brands/accounts have you worked on?

Rolls Royce, BMW, MINI, McCann Erickson, Visio, Zurich, LineOne, BUPA, International Herald Tribune and now of course yougo.

Best day at work:

When the commercial account manager and I first presented the yougofurther site and proposition to commercial clients.  They loved it and we both knew we were on to something very exciting!

Worst day at work:

Finding out that I had sciatica at the end of January and being told I had to be off work for 6 weeks just 3 months before launch!  Thank goodness for my Blackberry!

Name one thing you’ve achieved that has made your bosses sit up and take notice:

It has to be yougo. Making the site a reality by bringing together the power of the UCAS brand and unique database, developing the go further proposition and uniting some fantastic brands like Lonely Planet, iTunes and Doctorjob.com.

Ambitions:

To make yougo the best student website and to take web 2.0 to the next level by successfully combining social networking with premium content and a talent showcase.

Advice to other rising stars:

Be passionate about your project and then the sky’s the limit!

Quote from the boss:

“Keeping up with Lisa is an art in itself!  Balancing the educational and commercial in the way that she does is a skill that not many have.  Together with others involved in the project, the creativity, great judgment and excitement that Lisa brings to yougo make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.  We really want this to work for all students out there…”
