Core Exercise Clinics, the first of which has already opened in†Enfield, will target people recovering from injuries or chronic illness, people with lifestyle and weight issues, and the mature market who have become less active.

The joint venture will include a team of "core experts" with formal training in subjects such as physiotherapy, nursing, exercise, physiology and rehabilitation. Members will also have access to BUPA’s 24-hour health information line, and each client will be given an initial assessment followed by a personalised plan.

The clinics will not have mirrors and will hold a hexagonal fish tank, which aims to create a tranquil environment.

BUPA has eight million customers in 180 countries and 42,000 employees while David Lloyd Leisure operates 60 clubs in the UK and Ireland.
