Pioneer takes music initiative into classrooms

Pioneer, the DJ product specialist, is launching a ‘Make Me A DJ’ programme at schools across the UK to inspire students to engage in music. It is being backed by Radio 1 presenter DJ Spoony.

The company’s software will be used in the classroom to re-enact the sound of modern instruments rather than traditional ones such as the recorder and violin.

The modules will meet curriculum objectives and encourage pupils aged between 12 and 16 to develop musical ideas and create mixes. Students can use the lessons to contribute to a GCSE in music.

The programme was created by specialist agency The National Schools Partnership, which was appointed by Pioneer at the end of last year. The agency also works with Asda, Disney and Npower.
Martin Dockree from Pioneer says: “Pupils are keen to learn when a subject is put across in an exciting and enthusiastic way.”
