Trader Media Group gets new chief exec

Guardian Media Group (GMG) has appointed John King as chief executive of Trader Media Group, publisher of the Auto Trader magazine and website. King was previously chief executive officer at the Trading Post, Australia’s specialist classifieds business.

He replaces Jerry Fowden who left the media group following its sale of a minority holding in Trader Media Group. Prior to his role at the Trading Post, King was chief operating officer of Senses Classifieds.

GMG chief executive Carolyn McCall (pictured) says King brings “extensive experience” of building and leading print and online classified advertising revenues. “He also has a track record of delivering high levels of growth in very competitive industries and market segments,” she adds.

GMG announced the sale of a minority stake in Trader Media Group to Apax Partners in March this year.
