All Response Media has been appointed to handle the £8m media planning and buying for price comparison website BeatThatQuote.com. The agency is understood to have pitched against M2M and one other undisclosed agency to win the business.

It is thought to be the first time the site, which was set up by serial entrepreneur John Paleomylites in February 2005, has appointed a retained agency. Its advertising is handled in house.

The company is believed to be planning a heavyweight advertising push and Paleomylites says: “We are taking a bold creative approach and wanted a media partner with all the rigour and experience to support us in this.”

BeatThatQuote.com specialises in personal finance products such as loans, mortgages, insurance and credit cards. Last year it won “Business of the Year” at the Natwest Start-up Awards and “Young Company of the Year” at the CBI Growing Business Awards.

The company reported revenues of about £10m in 2006 and projects revenues of about £28m for this year. All Response Media managing director Colin Gillespie adds: “BeatThatQuote.com has a brand proposition that is ideally placed to achieve cut-through in what is otherwise a fairly staid market.”

Paleomylites sold his previous company JCP to Sun Microsystems for £40m.
