Procter & Gamble is restructuring its global business into three new business units, household care, global health and well being and beauty care, and is reshuffling its top-level management.

The move will see the stand-alone Gillette business, which it acquired in July 2005, split up and folded into the beauty care and household care operations.

As part of the restructure, Susan Arnold (left), the vice chairman of beauty and health products has been promoted to president, global units. She will also assume the additional responsibility for the development and innovation of P&G’s brands.

Robert McDonald has been promoted to the new role of chief operating officer. He was previously vice-chairman for global operations. The restructure will take effect from July 1.
