Beattie McGuinness Bungay has won the £2m advertising account for thelondonpaper without a pitch. It follows the closure of WPP’s United London, thelondonpaper’s previous agency.

It follows a previous assertion from News International that the business would not move to WPP sister agency Grey, which picked up United business including the Home Office and the Food Standards Agency.

Thelondonpaper general manager Ian Clark had said the freesheet’s decision to move the account would depend on factors including personnel involved at the new agency. BMB founding partners Trevor Beattie and Andrew McGuinness have previously worked on News International business. BMB has also worked on the Daily Express, winning the account in 2005.
