Lindsay exits for TBWA

Publicis UK chairman Tim Lindsay has quit the agency to join TBWA. Omnicom-owned TBWA has confirmed his appointment as chief executive to replace Paul Bainsfair who left in March.

Lindsay will leave Publicis without a UK chairman, chief executive or managing director. Earlier this month Lindsay was forced to issue a statement to clarify changes at the group, following its acquisition of digital agency Modem Media, saying that the Publicis Dialog arm was safe. Modem now operates under the Digitas name.

The appointment follows a series of account losses for Publicis including the £43m Asda business.

TBWA counts Adidas, Beiersdorf, Masterfood and PlayStation. Earlier this year, Publicis Groupe posted a 6.5% rise in first quarter profits to €1.059 billion (£717 million) period-on-period despite warnings that cost cutting looks to be likely.
