Thomas Cook marketing director secures role in merged operation

Thomas Cook’s marketing director Simon Carter will head the company’s new marketing department following its merger with MyTravel. He will report to MyTravel chief executive John Bloodworth, who becomes UK and Ireland executive director.

The new structure will be put in place once the merger is completed on June 19. MyTravel’s marketing director Tim Mardsen’s new role has yet to be confirmed.

MyTravel chief executive Peter McHugh and Thomas Cook chief executive Manny Fontenla-Novoa will be the new group’s joint chief executive. There will be two executive directors, Bloodworth and Thomas Cook’s chief financial officer Ludger Heuberg.

McHugh says: “Preparations are well advanced for the integration of the two companies. To ensure success in this period of change, it is essential that the new management team is in place from the outset.”
