Enjoy England launches mobile website

Tourism body Enjoy England is launching a new mobile website, which aims to drive tourism by offering information to visitors on the move. The dotMobi site, which launches this week, will help visitors find local attractions and areas of interest and access information on venues.

The site has been created by TXT4 and includes its “Locate Me” tool, which allows users to enter a street name, town or postcode and access details on their location. The site will search over 7,000 attractions to provide users with a shortlist of things to do along with contact details, a brief description and the option to download a map for mobile.

Users can access the site by entering www.enjoyengland.mobi into a handset or by texting “Enjoy” to 64118 to be sent a link to the site. Once a user clicks through, they must give permission to activate handset technology, which automatically identifies their location.

Enjoy England general manager of England marketing Laurence Bresh says “We’ve been using SMS successfully since 2003, and in recent years developed a bespoke look-up service with TXT4 to allow visitors locate their nearest Tourist Information Centre. Launching a dotMobi site is an extension of this early service and provides a great opportunity to help us target and engage our widespread audience with a very useful, creative and easy to use service.”
