Carat wins Birds Eye media planning account

Birds Eye, the frozen food brand, has appointed Carat to handle its £15m media planning and buying account after a three-way pitch against Starcom and incumbent Mindshare.

It comes just a week after the company moved its advertising business out of Bartle Bogle Hegarty into Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO after a two-way pitch. Birds Eye chief executive Martin Glenn oversaw both of the pitches.

The review of both accounts comes six months after the brand was sold by Unilever to private equity group Permira for £1.6bn. In December, the brand reappointed MindShare to handle the account but called a review last month as part of a wider look at its suppliers.
