Hegarty knighted in Queen’s Birthday Honours

John Hegarty, chairman and co-founder of Bartle Bogle Hegarty has been knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, in recognition for his services to the advertising industry. Leslie Butterfield, managing partner of the Ingram Partnership, has also received a CBE.

Hegarty’s agency has been responsible for some of the industry’s most memorable campaigns including Levi’s, Audi and more recently Lynx. Under the stewardship of Hegarty as the worldwide creative director of BBH, the agency won the much coveted British Airways account in 2005.

The agency recently lost the Bird’s Eye account to Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO and also lost its place on the SCA Hygiene roster.

Hegarty’s agency sold its 49% stake to Leo Burnett in 1998.
