Troubled HTW folds into Wunderman network

Harrison Troughton Wunderman (HTW), the troubled direct marketing agency which last week scooped the £20m Orange DM account, has been folded into the Wunderman network. Chief executive John Butler has stepped down. It is not known if he has a job to go to.

The agency had recently lost a number of accounts as well as its co-founder and creative director Steve Harrison. Co-founder Martin Troughton left the agency three years ago.

Sources previously suggested that WPP-owned HTW had secured a stay of execution after winning the Orange consumer and corporate account late last month.

Trish Wheaton (pictured), who has headed up Wunderman’s Microsoft team since March, has been appointed chief operating officer of the expanded agency. Headhunters are believed to be recruiting a both a chief executive and executive creative director.

The expanded agency has more than 400 employees and UK offices in London, Byfleet, Coventry, Shenfield and Woking. It is understood there will be no redundancies.
