MPs turn attention to 2012 Olympics logo

The effectiveness of the derided London 2012 Olympics logo is to be scrutinised by a group of MPs. It is understood that they want to meet the team behind the graphic to discuss the thinking behind the design.

It is understood that the cross-party Parliamentary Design Group has been consulted, but group manager Joanna Shaw says nothing has been confirmed.

Any meeting would include representatives from Wolff Olins, the design agency behind the logo, and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, the body that commissioned the £400,000 emblem.

Shaw says all parties have shown interest in discussing the logo and a meeting could be arranged for next month.

The Associate Parliamentary Group for Design and Innovation was established in 1997 and operates under the name Parliamentary Design Group. It aims to elevate the standard of debate on design in parliament and ensure design is considered in policy development.
