Intercontinental reshuffles global team

Intercontinental Hotels Group has restructured its global marketing department in a bid to give its brands a more consistent message around the world. The new team will be headed by senior vice-president for worldwide brand management Nina Bibby, who will report to chief marketing officer Peter Gowers.

The group, which owns Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn, has appointed Dunkin Donuts marketer Regina Lewis as vice-president of consumer insight.

Kevin Kowalski, who previously oversaw the Crowne Plaza brand in the US, takes up the new role of senior vice-president of worldwide brand management for Crowne Plaza, while Tom Stringer joins from the global strategy team as portfolio and innovation strategy director.

Senior vice-president of organisational development Jon Harding becomes senior vice-president for worldwide capability development. Harding and Stringer will be based in the UK, while the rest of the team will be based in the US.

Mark Snyder becomes senior vice-president of worldwide brand management for Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, having previously just had responsibility for the Holiday Inn brand.

The new team will lead sales and marketing activity in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and North and South America and will focus on aligning worldwide brand strategy.

Intercontinental Hotels will continue to have its on dedicated marketing team led by senior vice-president of worldwide brand development Jenifer Zeigler, who also reports to Gowers.

It was announced earlier this year that Gowers will become chief executive of the Asia Pacific region in November. The company is looking for a replacement and the marketing teams will continue to report to Gowers until an appointment is made.
