Osoyou.com to combine networking with shopping

Internet entrepreneur Marc Worth, the founder of online fashion directory Worth Global Style Network (WGSN), has been appointed to the board of the soon-to-be-launched shopping site Osoyou.com.

This will be Worth’s first venture since selling his trend forecasting WGSN to EMAP for £140m last year.

The Osoyou.com website, due to launch next month, will be run by former EMAP Elan managing director Dawn Bebe. Worth will help roll out the website in Europe and the US.

Osoyou.com aims to combine the current trends for social networking with the click-and-buy fashion site. The website claims this will create the UK’s first “social shopping” site.

The fashion site is funded by internet investment group Bright Station Ventures, run by Dan Wagner and Shaa Wasmund.

Creator Wasmund says: “You can shop online with your friends in the same way you shop with them offline. You can create wish lists of items you want to buy, ask your friends to rate or hate them and give advice on cheaper alternatives to expensive designer items.”

The site’s virtual high street will include big-name stores and brands, including TopShop and Figleaves.

Marc Worth and his brother Julian founded WGSN in 1997 with an investment of £1m.

Its 1,500 subscribers include Marks & Spencer and Giorgio Armani.
