Eden Project to use mobile phone ticket system

The Eden Project is launching what it claims is the UK’s first entirely paperless ticketing system using mobile phones. The Cornwall attraction says the initiative is a “milestone” in the advancement of mobile ticketing.

Visitors to the Eden Project, which is home to the world’s biggest greenhouses and has attracted more than 8 million visitors since it opened in 2001, will be able to book, buy and redeem tickets using their mobiles.

The Eden Project has been using mobile ticketing since last summer but until now users have had to call the box office and pay over the phone to get the ticket sent to their mobiles.

Eden has teamed up with mobile ticketing specialist Swiftpass and mobile payment solution LUUP to offer the new service. Swiftpass managing director Jeff Berry says the development is “an exciting step forward in ticketing technology”.

Eden adds that the mobile ticketing system will help it become “even greener”.
