Coca-Cola names global marketing and commercial head

The Coca-Cola Company has appointed Joseph Tripodi to the position of chief marketing and commercial officer. He will have a global remit and be based in the US, reporting to president and chief operating officer Muhtar Kent.

The appointment comes after Mary Minnick (pictured), president of marketing, strategy and innovation, left the company in January to join private equity firm Lion Capital after being passed over for the chief executive post.

Tripodi was most recently the senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Allstate Insurance Co. He joined the company in 2003 from The Bank of New York where he was chief marketing officer.

Kent says Tripodi will be tasked with integrating the marketing and commercial leadership functions. He says: “We believe that enhancing the focus of our global marketing team and processes on our customers – who are the direct pipeline to consumers, all the way to point of purchase – will strengthen our entire business.”
