City AM seeks first marketing chief

City AM, the business freesheet, is seeking its first marketing chief in a move aimed at boosting its relationships with clients and agencies. The marketing was previously overseen by managing director Lawson Muncaster.

Muncaster says the appointment will help “bridge the knowledge gap between us and clients” as the paper looks to steal market share from rivals such as the Financial Times. The marketer will be responsible for promoting the City AM brand and will report into Muncaster.

It is understood to be speaking to four external candidates, including one from a traditional newspaper background, are thought to have been shortlisted for the role. An appointment could be made as early as next week.

The latest Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) figures reveal City AM’s distribution remained over the 100,000 mark for the three months between April and June.
