Orange appoints multimedia director

Orange, the mobile phone operator, has appointed Katrien Barrat, a former Mobistar marketer, as its new UK multimedia and convergence director. She will report into Orange’s vice-president of marketing Jean-Pascal Van Overbeke and will be responsible for around 15 staff.

Barrat replaces Alistair Johnston who has joined rival O2 and will be tasked with driving the company’s uptake of both data and multimedia services, along with promoting existing customers to subscribe Orange’s broadband service.

Barrat was previously head of pay monthly and convergence at Mobistar.

Last month, Orange poached former Nokia global marketing director Justin Billingsley to fill the role of UK brand market director (MW July 7).

Billingsley replaced Pippa Dunn who took over as UK pay-as-you-go director last November.
