RLA takes to a barn, handing interior design duties over to students

Creative agency RLA Group has an unlikely setting for its new office – a barn in Dorset (pictured). The only thing left to do is to design the interior to get the agency’s creative juices flowing.

Instead of going down the traditional road of getting in a criminally expensive interior design agency, RLA took the opportunity to demonstrate their support for the link between the commercial world and education and the arts. It teamed up with the Arts Institute at Bourne-mouth to give the job to students on the Institute’s FdA Interior Architecture and Design course .

Seventeen students are taking part in the scheme, which is split into two units of their course. In the first part they created plans for the office, including the furniture and in the second they looked at how to weave RLA’s brand values into their concepts. The winning design will be completed by September.
