Guardian News & Media (GNM) has acquired conference and research specialist company Kable as it looks to better position its public sector offering. Kable, founded in 1990, has three core business interests from which GNM will hope to generate profits.

It provides advice and research reports for IT businesses working in the UK and European public sectors. Additionally, it publishes public sector IT titles as well as running conferences and events.

Kable will form part of GNM’S new Guardian Professional division, an arm of GNM that aims to build business-to-business revenues for the Guardian. Guardian Professional covers areas such as conferencing, sponsorship, supplements and print and digital publications.

Tim Brooks, managing director of GNM, says Kable will represent a “good fit alongside GNM’s existing public sector activities”. No financial details of the deal were disclosed.
