Npower is extending its relationship with Homeserve to take on British Gas in the home installation and services sector. Npower has bought Homeserve’s heating services arm and signed a ten-year partnership deal with the company to co-market a range of policies for the home.
The acquisition of Homeserve Heating Services – formerly Servowarm – sees Npower take on 200 employees, including engineers, management and support staff. The Homeserve fleet will be rebranded as Npower Hometeam – Npower’s existing central heating and installation business – with immediate effect.
Npower says it wants to make Hometeam a real alternative to British Gas and Npower Residential managing director Kevin Miles adds: “Growth in energy services is a key objective for Npower. This announcement will help raise customer expectations in an industry desperately in need of a new approach.”
As part of the marketing tie-up, Homeserve will carry on marketing a range of home emergency policies to Npower’s customers.
