The Children’s Society is offering gig-goers the chance to meet the “godfather of punk” Iggy Pop as part of a fundraising initiative at Rock the House in Leeds next week.
The campaign, created by mobile marketing agency Incentivated, will encourage thousands of music fans to donate to the charity by texting in to win the chance to meet the singer after the show. Fans that enter will instantly donate £3 to The Children’s Society, which will be charged to their monthly bill or deducted from pay-as-you-go credits.
Children’s Society spokeswoman Lisa Quinlan-Rahmen says: “The Rock the House audience can use their mobile phones to donate to the Children’s Society instantly and easily to show their support. The text-to-win element, meeting Iggy Pop and other ‘money can’t buy’ prizes, is an added bonus that no other medium can offer so easily.”
The funds raised from Rock the House will go towards the charity’s efforts to give help and support for children facing danger, discrimination or disadvantage.
Incentivated works with brands, the public sector and charities to help them communicate with customers instantly via their mobile phones through mobile marketing and advertising campaigns. Its other clients include British Airways, the COI, Macmillan Cancer, ScottishPower and VisitBritain.
