Ex-Universal marketer’s start-up joins NXO network

Gavin Miller, the former Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Capital Radio marketer, is launching a marketing consultancy. The new agency will be part of strategic marketing network NXO.

Miller, who was previously marketing director at Universal, will focus on the technology, media, telecommunications and entertainment. Connect NXO will provide a strategic marketing consultancy service to clients, which will cover content, technology, distribution marketing and investment.

The company, which will be based in London, has been signed up as principal advisor by Opportune, a private equity company interested in the media industry. Miller has also been hired as a consultant to secure funding for a film at script stage.

The ten-strong NXO network is serviced by a “creative hub” which allows clients access to creative services across a variety of communications such as TV, press, outdoor and the mobile sector. Miller says that the network allows companies to collaborate with highly experienced marketers and business owners.

Miller was appointed as marketing director by Universal in August 2005 to manage its home entertainment division after two years at Capital Radio Group as commercial marketing director (MW August 25, 2005). At Universal, he was responsible for marketing and distributing digital content. He led the launch of “download to own” movies.

Miller joined Capital from Starcom Motive in August 2003 and was responsible for the radio group’s marketing and communications with advertisers and agencies and for raising the commercial profile of its brands. He left after it merged with GWR Group to create GCap Media.
