Publicis wins EasyJet pan-European account

EasyJet has appointed Publicis to its roster with a brief to handle its pan-European account, which includes its £15m UK advertising business. It is not clear how the appointment affects its relationship with pan-European agency Ogilvy Group.

It is understood that Publicis in London will play a key role on the business alongside its German sister agency. In the past, Publicis has handled work for the airline in Germany out of its Berlin office but this has now been expanded to include other markets.

EasyJet appointed Ogilvy to its £50m pan-European account after a prolonged pitch. The airline held a pitch at the end of 2005 but abandoned it and started again with a new brief at the start of 2006 (MW January 25, 2006).

EasyJet handed its search-optimisation account to The Search Works in July in a bid to increase traffic to its European-language websites. OMD UK, which handles media planning and buying account, is unaffected.
