Specsavers boosts Celtic rugby sponsorship

Specsavers, the high street opticians, is reinforcing its position in Celtic rugby by extending its sponsorship of Magners League match officials and launching the Specsavers Fairplay League to encourage players to be more disciplined.

The new league will reward the best disciplinary record with the club with the fewest red and yellow cards at the end of each season winning £10,000 to spend on their youth development.

The sponsorship deal, which was negotiated by MEC Sponsorship, will also see the Specsavers logo on match officials shirts, perimeter boards and media back drops at each club. It is hoped that its continued support will help to raise standards in refereeing and, alongside the Fairplay League, improve discipline, transparency and accountability.
