Renault senior vice president becomes F1 team head

Renault F1 Team has appointed Renault senior vice presient Bernard Rey as president. He replaces Alain Dassas, who has moved to a new role at Nissan.

Rey, who is a member of the Renault Management Committee, will add the racing team to his existing responsibilities when he takes over the role on September 17. He will continue to report to Carlos Ghosn, chief executive of Renault and Nissan.

Rey joined Renault in 1969, working in the purchasing department and vehicle project management department before being appointed the group’s international purchasing director in 1998.

A year later he left to join Nissan as vice president for its purchasing strategy department. In 2004, Rey was made senior vice president of Nissan’s CEO office and Nissan Motorsport. He returned to Renault earlier this year.
