New Campaign: Harvey Nichols

Harvey Nichols, the upmarket department store, is the latest advertiser to court controversy with a viral campaign on video-sharing site YouTube.

The ad, called Foodmarket AW07, promotes the chain’s newly refurbished food halls and features risqué “behind the scenes” footage of Harvey Nichols’ Foodmarket.

Animals are seen behaving like prima donnas while they are dressed and have their make-up applied before hitting the catwalk. The viral also features wild backstage behaviour, including images of a chicken chopping and snorting cocaine and a goat vomiting into a urinal.

The viral is a push for this season’s collection of produce such as “delicately marbled Hereford beef from Lord Newborough’s estate in Corwen, North Wales”. It also features Iberico pigs from Andalusia and promotes its Sicilian spiral pork sausage.
